If the printer does not print after installation
If the printer does not print after installing on Windows 7, then the issue lies in the installation and may be the drivers. To resolve it ensure that the printer is turned on and the lights are lit on the printer. Try to update the drivers of the printer and to do that, click ‘Start’, right click on ‘My Computer’ and click ‘Manage’, from there, click ‘Computer Management’ and select the option ‘Device Manager’. In ‘Device Manager’, select the driver for printer, right click and click ‘Update Driver’. If it does not help then find out the latest drivers for the printer on the manufacturer’s site. Click on ‘Start’, ‘All Programs’, ‘Windows Update’ and select ‘Check for updates’. If there is any update, install the update and check whether the printer is operational or not. If the printer still gives issues, check out on manufacturer’s site.

The printer prints extremely slow
The print spooler is responsible for printing in a printer and therefore, the print spooler might not be functioning properly if the system is taking long to print. To make print spooler function properly, restart the computer. Restart the computer and check whether the issue has got resolved or not. If not, click on ‘Start’, ‘Control Panel’ and Administrative Tools’ which does require administrative password. Type in the password and click ‘Services’. Under Services, search for the option which says print spooler. Right click on it and click ‘Properties’. From General tab, select the start up type to be automatic and the service status must be start, click on Ok to set it up.

Using printer troubleshooter
Control Panel in Windows 7 contains troubleshooting tools to fix issues with devices. It would not bring in resolution to all the problems, however, most of it can be taken care of. To use Windows Troubleshooter to fix issues, click ‘Start’, then select ‘Control Panel’, ‘System and Security’, then find and fix problems. The troubleshooter does ask for questions related to the issue and to bring out the solution.
