Microsoft has unveiled the next version of its Operating System called Windows Phone 7 Series for mobile phones. Microsoft is including customizable “live tiles” that can update automatically with information from the phone or the Internet so as to make the interface more personal. Some of the tiles will update automatically while others can be customized manually. The interface supports an on-screen QWERTY keyboard and can support multi-touch interfaces in the same way as Windows 7 for computers. Another feature included from PCs is the Web browser. It is based on the same code as the desktop version of Internet Explorer. The vendors such as Samsung, LG, Sony-Ericsson and HTC have committed to offer devices running Windows Phone 7 Series.
Following are some of the features of Windows 7 phone applications:

The menus and interface have the fluid animations and clean typeface. It provides shortcuts to your most-used or favorite applications or websites with large and colorful tiles. It also allows you to place live tiles on the screen with links to your Facebook profile or friends. These tiles are live, so that, when the application or site is updated, then the tile will also update on your screen. Using tap and drag, you can easily move them around in any order you like. If you want to shift one of your applications to your Quick Launch display, you could simply press down on the application and select ‘Add to quick launch’.
Supports social and productivity hubs
The People Hub helps in aggregating your friends from all of your social networks in three screens: ‘Recent’, ‘All’ and ‘What’s New’. The ‘Recent’ will display you the friends who have just updated their profiles or statuses while ‘All’ will show all of your friends. ‘What’s new’ quickly collects status update, all into a single feed. It is also able to quickly share your own status update. The Pictures Hub allows you to see all of the pictures on your hub, your most recent pictures and what’s new with all of your friends.
Bing Maps
Windows 7 phones also come with Bing Maps, which has some exceptional features that are comparable to Google Maps. Bing Maps dynamically get updated with street-view photos, 3D graphics and directions. It also shows you real-time traffic updates and reviews of local business. All Windows Series 7 phones are shipped with three hardware buttons: ‘Home’, ‘Search’, and ‘Back’. They also are touch-enabled with multi-touch.
