Help Us De-Spam Your Email Inbox [Announcements]

You can take steps on your own to wipe out spam from your inbox, but if you're getting more spam in your email since our security breach, you've also got legal recourse. We want to help you get the spammers.

The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 allows for private right of actions against spammers, and if you're getting extra spam in your inbox as a result of our recent security breach, we want to help you exercise that right. The problem is that we need your help to find out about all the various spammers. If you receive any spam in your inbox that you believe is related to your leaked email address, please forward the unsolicited email to spam AT gawker DOT com, and we'll contact the FTC on your behalf. If you'd like, you can reply to the spammer with the following email, but the most important thing is that you forward us the spam:

To Whom It May Concern:
I believe that you and/or your agents are sending SPAM emails using email addresses harvested from the Gawker database that was published on the internet, and that is why I am now receiving unsolicited email from you.

This email is to put you on notice that I have reported this to Gawker Media and they will be notifying the FTC of your actions and will consider pursuing private legal action under the provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act should you continue to send out SPAM emails to their reader base.

As you may be aware, penalties for violations of the CAN-SPAM act can reach several million dollars in fines, in addition to injunctive relief. Consider this email a warning and cease your SPAM emailing activity immediately.

Graph Your Inbox Graph Gmail Activity Over Time

Graph Your Inbox can give an accurate analysis of email activity for Gmail users.

Graph Your Inbox is a Chrome extension which allows Gmail users to analyze their Gmail activities and transform these activities in visual format to give users a better idea what’s going on. This simple tool will graph Gmail activity over time to present an analysis to users. With this application added to Google Chrome browser, an icon will appear in the Chrome address bar (to the right). Users can click on to this icon to open the extension and start graphing their email. Users can type in their client’s name, for instance, in the search box to visualize their communication activity with this particular contact, e.g. how frequently they communicate with each other in a particular month or year.

The analyzed data graph presented by Graph Your Inbox might not be interesting for some users. However, it can be quite useful when you need to do some analysis. For instance, users can use this facility to monitor their communication/follow-up with their customers. Users also can visualize their particular communication activity such as Facebook, Amazon, etc. This simple tool will expose all sorts of interesting things about users’ communication.
