Today's featured workspace is that of Los Angeles architect Jesse Bornstein. He designed his home with his home office at the forefront of his mind. The house is oriented towards the street in such a way that his home office is the first thing visitors encounter. It's a clever design technique—he works from home and the majority of the people who come up his walk are destined for his home office. Directing them right to the office enables him to separate his business from his personal space.

Build an Attractive DIY Desk and Workspace from Wooden Pallets [Featured Workspace]

Today we take a peek inside the offices of Dutch advertising firm Brandbase. Their offices are decorated with and furnished, unconventionally, with hundreds of wood packing pallets.

Brandbase's new office is in an old and narrow canalhouse and spread across three floors. The staircase, reception desk, work stations, conference table, and more are all constructed from packing pallets. The desk and table areas are topped with tempered glass. Ample windows and enormous skylights let in natural light which, thanks to bare white walls and white floor, is free to bounce around and keep the narrow space from feeling closed in. Although the use of packing pallets is certainly unconventional the open space and abundance of natural light really sells the space. Check out the gallery below for a tour of the offices.

Today's featured workspace is compact in size but tucked away in a larger room. A combination of colors and furniture matched to the greater room help it to blend in seamlessly with the bigger space.

Lifehacker reader ichirorabbit has a workspace tucked in the corner of his living room. Rather than settle with a workspace that's functional but looks out of place, he opted to match the styling and colors of his workspace and living room furniture to create a unified look. If not for the giveaway peek into his kitchen—via one of the pictures in the gallery below—you'd never know it was his living room and would assume he just had a spacious and stylishly appointed office.
