How to Delete or Cancel iTunes Account (Apple ID)

For people who is using an Apple products, such as iPhone, iPod touch, iPod, iPad, MacBook and iMac, chance is that you will have an iTunes account with an Apple ID. iTunes has been the central marketplace for everything including songs, video, TV shows, audiobooks, music video, apps, and podcasts. To download any of the contents, an iTunes account (and Apple ID) has to be created.

If you decide that iTunes is enough for you, and want to leave the Apple ecosystem, or just want to avoid accidental future downloads (and hence payment for costs), unfortunately Apple does not offer a way to delete, cancel or even disable the iTunes account. As such, try the one of following methods or tricks as a workaround to delete and cancel the iTunes account, and stop the iTunes account from been used in future.

Method 1: Manually Contact Apple

Contact Apple Customer Service (contact information can be found at apple.com) through phone call or email (if available), and indicates that you want to cancel or delete an iTunes account and/or Apple ID.

Note that this option of disabling iTunes account may hinder your ability to access the purchases previously bought on the particular iTunes account, especially on computers that were not authorized to download or install the purchases prior to account cancellation.

Method 2: Disable Credit Card and PayPal

Most people wants to cancel iTunes account to stop spending on unnecessary items, which are too easy to purchase in iTunes. Another way for people who simply wants to stop buying and charging to credit card or PayPal, either by oneself or somebody who has accessed to the iTunes account, is to disable the credit card and linked PayPal account.
